Community Engagement

Since becoming elected, Maia has been involved in a wide range of issues.

She has worked hard to change council policy to
• provide more cultural services
• engage the community
• make services more accessible.

Maia's current priorities are:
• housing & homelessness, particularly for young people;
• youth participation
• anti-social behaviour
• play facilities for children.

Maia's interest in national issues covers the full range of Green Party priorities. She focuses primarily on:
• social justice
• local democracy
• access for all to good quality, affordable housing.

Currently the UK has
• an unacceptably high rate of child poverty
• widening gaps in wealth and income between rich and poor
• unresolved homelessness problems.

Most of these problems stem from regressive government spending. This rewards the well-off and punishes the poor or disadvantaged.
