North West Green Party Membership tops 2000

28 September 2014

The Green Party has seen a surge in membership this year as more and more people realise that that the narrow political agenda promoted by the '3 Main Parties' (and UKIP) has failed on economic, social and environmental grounds.   Today the Green Party membership in the North West region passed the 2,000 mark, its highest ever level.  This is an increase of 25% in the last 6 months alone.

Within England and Wales as a whole membership is approaching 20,000.   Further north, in Scotland, following the invigorating Independence debate, membership has trebled and now stands at over 6,000.

This is at a time when people are supposed to be disillusioned with politics, and when political Party membership (for other Parties) has been declining.  Also encouraging is the fact that new memberships are predominantly among younger voters, both south and north of the border.
